Each Cities of Love movie is a feature film which will include 11 short film Segments directed by 12 different directors. Each Segment will tell a contemporary love story in a specific neighborhood of the city. All the Segments shall be woven together by interstitial Transitions placed before, between and after each of the Segments. The Transitions involve some, if not all, of the characters created by the directors, and at least one character specifically created for the Transitions, called the Recurrent Character. The Recurrent Character must have an excuse to be found anywhere in the city at any time, and a good reason to connect or interact with any of the Segments’ characters. All the Characters, including the Recurrent Character serve the unity of the film. The Epilogue of the movie will bring all the characters together.

After 'Paris, Je T'aime', 'New York, I Love You', 'Rio, I Love You' and 'Berlin, I Love You', Emmanuel Benbihy and his Chinese partner Yunling Zhou will produce the next installment of the Cities of Love franchise: 'Shanghai, I Love You'.

Emmanuel has been living in Shanghai for 11 years. This is the first Cities of Love installment that he will personally produce after 'New York, I Love You'. The movie is currently at scriptwriting stage. Principal photography will start in September 2021.
