Mikis Fernandez

After cinema studies at the language university of Montpellier and many projects that I have directed (two short films, a music video and a documentary in Brasil), these are the first professional shoots : manager, lighting technician, camera assistant, first assistant director, that kick start and allow me to familiarise myself with all the department in the film industry.
Between two shoots, it’s writing scripts that fills “dead times”. In 2005, an opportutniy presents itself to me : filming a feature film during the electro music festival ‘Les plages sonores’. A script written for the occasion, a month of preparation time, 18 days on set, a year of post-production later and finally ‘Living in Extasy’ is ready to be released. Mixing digital, animation and super 8, ‘Living in Extasy’ meets its audience during various festivals where it’ll be awarded or nominated : Atlanta, Hoboken/New Jersey, Hawaï Big Island (USA), Toronto (Canada), Warsaw (Poland)…
After positive word-of-mouth feedback, I have been called back to work on numerous music video shoots and adverts. Without neglecting the training I’ve had, I participate in John Truby’s Masterclass in june and july 2011 : ‘The Anatomy of a Screenplay’ and ‘3 essentials genres’, then in june 2015 to Luc Besson’s ‘Directing’ Masterclass, 2019 : «Go Into The Story» Scott Myiers Masterclass. In 2016, I am spotted by the agency Lise Arif. In 2017 i won the first prize at the european festival "Serie Séries (Fontainbleau - France) for the project : Classified : The Time Traveler. The prize is funding for the pilot of the series. The shooting starts in june 2020.
