Andi Reiss

I’m a media creative; documentary filmmaker, writer and digital multimedia designer. Spurred by rejection and fighting to bring uncompromising stories to the screen, since 1993 I’ve been immersed in the independent media industry, working across platforms as a self-shooting p/d, director, development producer, indie financier, editor & colourist, photographer, script editor, illustrator, cartoonist, digital designer, experimental installation artist and associate lecturer.

Amongst many things, I have produced, directed, shot and edited a number of films exposing opposing views of orthodox opinion, and have been lucky enough to have met authors, thinkers, theologians, physicists, physicians, politicians, statisticians and shamans, all of whom strive for a more socially conscious society and to question the way media continues to create “echo chambers” that prevent people from being exposed to information that contradicts their preexisting beliefs. I like to work on projects that focuses on people and places within the margins, since often the most exciting stories come from the most unexpected places. My work has screened in competition at a number international festivals including Cannes, LIFF, QWIFF and Taormina.

I have also produced and directed a number of drama projects, commercials, corporates, music videos and experimental installations, and am currently exploring alternative content, from 360 video to room-scale interactive VR, and how technology can augment a well-told story to create ever more impactful experiences.
