A former television executive, entertainment attorney, and combat veteran, Luis “Lou” Ferrer is an aspiring writer and director with extremely unique and varied life experiences that inform his work. After a short career as an attorney, Ferrer spent 13 years as a programming executive at HBO and NBC in New York, and in 2016, left NBC to pursue his long-held passion for film writing and directing. In 2018, Ferrer moved from New York to Los Angeles to attend the American Film Institute Conservatory’s MFA program in Producing, a program Ferrer discontinued in 2019 in order to focus on writing, directing, and producing his first independent feature. He has since written several feature-length scripts and outlined various feature and episodic concepts for development. In 2019, on the strengths of his feature script, “Joe Lee, From Rock Bottom, Nevada,” Ferrer was selected to participate in the Writers Guild Foundation - Veterans Writing Project. Ferrer is a decorated combat veteran of the war in Afghanistan, where he served as a combat infantryman and reconnaissance scout with the Army’s 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment’s Recon Scout/Sniper Platoon. He holds degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, and Georgetown Law, and lives in Pasadena with his wife, Eden, and newborn son, Jack.
