About Andrew

I’m originally from Fort McMurray, Alberta where I attended Keyano College, taking upgrading courses. Later, my studies lead me to Lethbridge College. Where I received my diploma in Communication Arts, majoring in Advertising and Promotions in 2014.
My decision to get into screenwriting did not happen until recently. Over the years since I graduated, I have been hunting to start my writing career from Saskatoon to Edmonton. I remember back in elementary school I wanted to be a screenwriter. I even wrote a comedy script about a comet heading toward a capital city. In grade six I wrote little cartoon skits. Over time I looked around for places to learn the craft. I was able to get in touch with a writing coach down in California, whose teachings proved to be beneficial. Afterward, I stumbled upon Toronto Film School and had such a fantastic experience, meeting people and getting deep insights about the industry.
One of my favorite things to do is to volunteer at the Keyano theatre, Fort McMurray's main community theatre. Some of the productions I helped with were A Christmas Carol and The Drowsy Chaperone. I worked as a runner, spotter, set up and take down of the sets. Working at the theatre drove my interest in working behind the scenes of a production, seeing the story come to life. There were also times I ushered, handled tickets and helped with the bar. I got to see stand up comedy, TIFF films, bands, Improv troupes, and smaller plays. I also got a chance to take a Stage Management position helping a small play for the Alberta Drama Festival Association – North Zone. Lastly, I got the chance to play an extra in a local film.
Some of my goals in life are to write feature films and produce my first sitcom. I believe the best way to move forward is working with and helping fellow writers and other professionals in the industry. Much of my writing projects have came from my travels and volunteering.
