I have run an International Filmmakers Organization for 20 years and a Sales & Marketing Company that sold films around the world for 11. I am now involved with an International Studio Without Borders or Walls that specializes in a whole new genre of entertainment, one that does more than just enter...

Eugene Mandelcorn I just realized we were talking on Clubhouse. :) You were telling me about the projects your studio's working on.

Maurice Vaughan

Grant Eustace You can attach pictures and links to Stage 32 messages, but there's no way to attach documents.

Self Publishing Q&A

What are your questions about self-publishing? I'm working on an article for a popular magazine and want to demystify self-publishing, how to gain an income self-publishing, be a hybrid author, the do's and don'ts, what else? Throw your questions at me and I'll answer as many as I can!

Tessa Shaffer

Sorry for the late reply everyone, it's been a crazy week! I'll try to answer all the questions here:

As far as publishers looking "down" on self-published work, being self-published is much different...

Daniel Stuelpnagel To answer your question: whether writing is a hobby or a business is entirely up to the author and how much work they put into their efforts. I know many successful self-published a...

What about self-publishing an audio version of a book? Is that possible?

Debbie Elicksen

You get 100% of the proceeds as a self-publisher and 5 to 10% royalties as an author with a trad -- who owns the copyright and you may or may not ever see royalties after the first year, and have to p...

@Debbie Elicksen - you don't get 100% unless you're distributing direct from your webpage in the appropriate formats. Amazon take 30-65% based on the options you choose with them. Other sites take different percentages.

Collaboration Advice

Has anyone done any collaborations? What are the Pros and cons? Really struggle with dialogue and thinking of finding some to collaborate with. Advice and suggestions much appreciated

Craig D Griffiths

I can give you one con.

I collaborated on a project (not a screenplay) and the biggest hurdle we had to overcome was that there was no “Me” and “Him”. It was “us”. He didn’t like when I was changing hi...

I write with my brothers and I always put in their ideas no matter what. Makes life easy. You just have to make the idea work.

Karen "Kay" Ross

I love the struggle of collaborations. That is all.

Eric Sollars

When you start the project together as a collaboration, be sure everyone is on board for the premise. Everything can be gel if you follow the premise. Make everybody feel like they contribute. One per...

I LOVE a good collab. But man, you have to genuinely respect the person that you're collaborating with (and vice-versa) and learn to truly listen to one another. Be able to practice some healthy give and take.

Treason

Just thought I would let you all know that I've just heard that Treason has just made it as a finalist in the PageTurner Screenplay Awards. The next stage is being whittled down to 10, so it may not ultimately amount to much, but an Award is an Award!

Graham White

Congratulations Grant, well done. Good luck in the next round!

Maurice Vaughan

Congrats, Grant Eustace.

Grant Eustace

Thanks Graham and Maurice - fingers crossed for the next stage!
