LOGLINE:

Rebecca ‘Rebel’ Lacey, a young aspiring author struggles to find, save and rescue her best friend’s soul, a reading addict (escapist), now, exhibiting schizophrenia. Her soul is trapped in an unknown mystical place after reading an old mysterious book called Heaven’s Gate.

SYNOPSIS:

Rebecca ‘REBEL’ Lacey and Alexis Byrne are best friends and both reading addicts, though they have different reasons for their addictions. Rebel is an aspiring writer and Alexis is what you can call a reading escapist, someone who would rather be in a dreamland of fantasy books than face her painful reality. They have a healthy competition with choosing the best books to read. Rebel has a peculiar way when it comes to choosing books (sniffing and feeling books) and always wins over Alexis because of this. In desperation, Alexis acquires an old book called ‘Heaven’s Gate’ from an odd secondhand bookseller. As Alexis read the old book, she turns incommunicable and continuously murmuring some strange languages. Alexis is diagnosed as schizophrenic. Later, Rebel learns that Alexis is murmuring books on their original text, she’s reading and verbalizing original works in their original language. Alexis’s soul is trapped in a mysterious place. Rebel seeks the book and finds it with the odd second-hand bookseller. The book has a mark of a Quill and the number 19 in a noose. The 19 in noose signifies the 19 victims of the witch hunt in Salem. Rebel at Danvers (formerly Salem) Procter’s Ledge discovers a magical and mysterious library that you can enter only with the book ‘Heaven’s Gate’ on hand. She finds Alexis's soul there, but she cannot take her. There should always be 19 souls in the library and Rebel has to find someone to trade in for Alexis if ever her soul could be rescued, and he or she has to be like her, a reading escapist.
