LOGLINE:

VIRAL is a near-reality episodic series (currently self-produced as a web series) with varying cinematic themes. Rae and James are divided by time zones, a split screen, a deadly virus, and all the loss and laughter of a global lockdown. You've been there...but you might be missing the bigger picture. Zoom in.

SYNOPSIS:

COVID-20 rages around the world, and isolation in this scenario is absolute: If you leave the house, you'd better be headed to a hospital. Rae and James maintain a lifeline solely through video chats, and the viewer is treated to glimpses of this dystopia - sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes terrifying - through the ubiquitous split screen.

Changing genres and plots mean this series offers something for everyone. The consistency lies in the two central characters, Rae and James. Rae is always Rae, a self-assured and sardonic fashion designer on the outside, harboring a fragile and deeply compassionate soul. James is always James, an open-minded journalist deeply concerned about the world and how he'll continue to cope in isolation amid the global pandemic. But in the "thriller" episode, they're cousins disagreeing about social-media engagement and trolls, as a riot mounts outside. In the "tragedy", they're a couple separated by distance and the pervasive coronavirus.

Witnessing the near-future reality of Rae and James forces the viewer to consider starkly relevant scenarios that bear an uneasy resemblance to our present dystopian world. How will they cope? How will we?
