SC Productions Inc. is a feature film production company based in Toronto Canada that focuses on character driven, genre agnostic narratives for an international audience. Ultimately make exciting films that speak to a world that is in constant flux between the East / West cultural divide. Behind SC Productions is Producer Sidney Chiu who has over 10 years of experience in independent feature film production specializing in development, production and international financing.

Sidney Chiu’s most recent credits include LOVE JACKED an official treaty coproduction between Canada and South Africa directed by Alfons Adetuyi for Innercity Films starring Keith David, Amber West and Mike Epps winner of the Best Narrative Feature at the Pan African Film Festival in 2018; COCONUT HERO an official treaty coproduction between Canada / Germany with award winning director Florian Cossen, for Six Island Productions Canadian Producer Paul Scherzer, and UFA Fiction German Producers Fabian Maubach, and Jochen Laube; BANG BANG BABY with Director Jeffrey St. Jules and Producer Dan Bekerman of Scythia Films, starring Jane Levy, Justin Chatwin and Peter Stormare. BANG BANG BABY premiered at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2014, winner of the Claude Jutra Award, and TIFF’s Best First Canadian Feature.

With interest in further developing international co-productions with Asia, in 2013 Sidney Chiu was the Production Manager on the highly successful Mandarin romantic comedy entitled FINDING MR RIGHT starring Tang Wei for Edko Films (HK) with Director Xue Xiaolu, working with Producers Mathew Tang (HK) and Shan Tam (CA). FINDING MR. RIGHT has gone on to be one of the highest grossing films in China with over US$ 80 Million in box office returns.

Prior to that, Sidney was the Producer for 3 DAYS IN HAVANA starring Gil Bellows, and Greg Wise directed by Tony Pantages and Gil Bellows, the noir-thriller was shot in Havana Cuba and Vancouver with E1 distributing and Summerhill Films (US) as its international sales agent. Sidney’s first produced feature entitled A NIGHT FOR DYING TIGERS premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2010. Written and directed by Terry Miles, this dysfunctional family drama starred Jennifer Beals, Gil Bellows and Kathleen Robertson and is distributed by Maple Pictures in Canada and Breakthrough Films internationally with distribution in more than a dozen countries.

Sidney has also been an Associate Producer for Anagram Pictures working on the on THE THAW starring Val Kilmer distributed by Maple Pictures and Voltage Pictures internationally. Prior to Anagram, Sidney was the Head of Development with Orca Productions Inc, working with award winning Director/Producer Nicholas Kendall. At Orca, Sidney attended several international markets and festivals including Cannes, AFM, Hong Kong Filmart, and the Mannheim Co-production Meetings developing international co-productions and co-ventures. Sidney was also selected to be one of the first 16 producers to participate in the inaugural Toronto International Film Festival STUDIO Program chosen over 200 applicants aimed at developing the careers and production slate of mid level producers.
