Andrea Kahukiwa

I am a writer, emerging director and producer with a passion for stories that reach underserved audiences. These are stories that engage hard to reach demographics yet connect with even wider audiences due to their authenticity.

I the last year or so I have written and production managed a children's animated mystery series for New Zealand's national broadcaster (Islands of Mystery). I am currently writing, directing and producing a documentary short film for the 2021 Doc Edge festival. I am writing a pilot and series outline for commission by Māori Television and New Zealand's national funding body NZ on Air.

I strive to write fresh stories that allow audiences to escape through entertainment while also learning something important about themselves through the worlds of others.
