About Paula

PAULA KILLEN
Since becoming a screenwriter in 2009, Killen has sold 11 feature film scripts to major studios including Paramount, Fox, Disney and Lionsgate. Her comedy feature, Fully Loaded, was produced by Adam McKay and distributed by STARZ after winning numerous awards at film festivals. Killen went on to develop two more comedy features for Gary Sanchez Productions (Adam McKay/Will Ferrell) and win a coveted spot in the (short lived, but awesome) Fox Writers Studio, headed by Nicky Weinstock.
Having recently begun her transition into television, Killen has worked closely with showrunner Adi Hasak, writing two episodes of his latest series The Box and helping to develop the NBC hit series, Shades of Blue with Jennifer Lopez and Eye Witness for the USA Network. She’s also produced several films, most recently Bliss, directed by Joe Maggio and currently she has numerous projects in development, focusing primarily on comedies and thrillers with a female perspective.
Originally from a theater background, Killen has a national reputation as an actor, playwright and monologist; she won a Joseph Jefferson award for her role in Girls Girls Girls (Chicago). The State I’m In premiered at the Goodman Theater/Chicago and was later remounted at La Mama in NYC (produced by David Sedaris). Her original musical, Music Kills a Memory, toured nationally and ran for over a decade.
Killen’s commentaries and essays have been heard on NPR and since moving to Los Angeles she’s performed at The Upright Citizen’s Brigade, The Improv, The Taper (to name a few). She was a regular guest at “Sit and Spin” and the host of “Write Club” at the Bootleg. Award winning plays Killen has directed/developed include: Lepricano by Antonio Sacre (“Best Of” the Fringe NY and LA) and Kimleigh Smith’s international mega-hit, Totally Kimleigh. Today, Killen continues to collaborate with artists, writers and activists committed to better living through storytelling.
