Abigail's directorial debut came about in 2006 with the TV series Gizelle that won instant acclaim with Maltese audiences and ran for 4 seasons through fifty episodes winning 13 awards at the 2006 and 2007 Malta TV Awards.
In 2008 Abigail Mallia formed her own production house, TAKE2 Entertainment, dedicated to the production of high quality series and film. Following Gizelle, Abigail went on to direct two other series; the crime drama Evangelisti (2008-2010), and the sitcom Deceduti (2010-2013). Both these series were produced under the Take2 label and both were instant successes. Abigail Mallia received the Best Director award at the Malta TV Awards for her work on Gizelle, Evangelisti and Deceduti. Between 2012 and 2013 Abigail directed various music videos and adverts. Two of them, 'Lucija u Samuel' and 'Marija is-Sabiha' won best video at the Bay Malta Music Awards in the consecutive years 2012 and 2013 respectively. Limestone Cowboy (2015-2017) is Abigail Mallia's debut feature film where years of experience behind the camera brought to life the production of this homegrown feature film. 2018 saw Abigail Mallia directing a 10 episode dramedy Miraklu (Holy Mary!) and concurrently also directing a pilot teaser Never After, the English version of the hit comedy sitcom Deceduti. Subsequently, Mallia produced the three part miniseries Merjen. Based on true events Merjen is a dark romance driven by obsession and lust culminating in murder.
