Sarah Young is a critically acclaimed, Oregon raised, NYC based multi genre director of theatre, opera, and film.
Sarah has two short films currently enjoying successful festival runs. Her first short film In Case We Get Found (2020) is inspired by her father’s experience as a survivor of the Umpqua Community College mass shooting in 2015. The film has won 7 awards including the Audience Award for Suspense at the MccMinville Short Film Fest. We’re All Fine (2021) was made entirely on zoom during lockdown and has won two awards including Best Director at Couch Film Festival. Upcoming work includes a brand new Web Series called Friends Can’t Kiss coming Spring 2021. She is currently in post-production on two short films produced and shot safely during the pandemic, and in pre-production for a horror short shooting Summer 2021.
Recent Theatre and Opera highlights include directing a reading at Cherry Lane Theatre, the opera La liberazione di Ruggiero at La Mama Experimental Theatre, and a site specific world premier play called Baby Shower at a brewery in Brooklyn.
Sarah also holds a Masters of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory. She has directed operas throughout the United States for companies including The San Francisco Opera Guild, West Edge Opera, and Pittsburgh Festival Opera. In summer of 2019 she directed La liberazione di Ruggiero for the Dell’Arte Opera Ensemble at La Mama Experimental Theatre in New York City.
Sarah’s day job is producing and editing the Youtube Channel PC Builder which she took from 0 – 26,000+ subscribers.
The San Francisco Chronicle has called her work “enchanting” while the San Jose Mercury News praised it as “intimate and edgy”.
