Zimbabwean screenwriter, director, producer, novelist and playwright Tsitsi Dangarembga obtained her Masters in Filmmaking from the German Film and Television Academy Berlin. She has produced several documentaries and short short films, and has credits on most of Zimbabwe’s feature film classics, including NERIA and EVERYONE’S CHILD, which she co-wrote and directed. Her award winning short music KARE KARE ZVAKO (MOTHER’S DAY, 2005) was screened in the short film competition at the Sundance Film Festival. She lives in Harare where she founded the production house Nyerai Films, the International Images Film Festival for Women, the Zimbabwe Film Industry Development Platform, Zimbabwe's leading professional filmmakers' organisation and the African Women Filmmakers' Hub (AWFH). She is the founding director the Institute of Creative Arts for Progress in Africa (Icapa) Trust. She is working on a slate of projects, that include the television series MS RHYTHMIX, adaptations of several African novels and her own passion narratives.
