About Dorothy

DOROTHY KOZAK SNOKE
Dorothy is a human rights lawyer turned award winning TV and feature writer. On the TV side, Dorothy writes one-hour drama, specializing in dark, character driven, serialized dramas. She has multiple sales to her credit, including original drama pitches and pilots sold to networks such as BET, CBS, USA Network, Disney Channel, and Freeform. Her unique range and writing style has led to development deals with such varied producers from DR. DRE to Wendy Finerman (FOREST GUMP). Dorothy likes to tackle complex, layered protagonists, and is fiercely committed to developing projects with women, LGBTQIA, and diverse directors and producers.
As a feature writer Dorothy has sold projects to 20th C Fox, Walden Media, and Disney, and written scripts for several Oscar nominated producers. She has won screenwriting awards from Tracking B, Screencraft, Sundance TV, Disney Writers Program (finalist), Dream Ago International, and the Special Prize for Screenwriting at the 2018 Moscow Film Festival. Dorothy also has an extensive background in story development as a high level story analyst for Disney Studios, A&E, Bruckheimer Productions, Scott Rudin Productions, Kennedy Marshall, and multiple others.
Dorothy is an avid researcher, developing multi-faceted true stories and book adaptations for both film and TV. Thematically her work delves deep into the intersectional conflicts of race, gender, law and social justice, stemming from her legal background. Always looking for the “diamond in the rough, she loves finding stories of unsung (s)heroes and bringing their amazing stories to light.
Currently Dorothy has several TV projects in development, including VIRAGO, an original pilot about female Special Ops teams, adaptations of two best-selling true crime books, WOMEN & MADNESS and REQUIEM FOR A FEMALE SERIAL KILLER, a female vigilante pilot on human trafficking (THE ISLAND) and the true crime adaptation RABBIT, about a psychologist to serial killers. On the feature side she is writing several true story adaptations, including BARBARA BLAINE, a female whistle blower exposing a Catholic Church scandal, the JIM THOMPSON story, a true crime CIA/Vietnam mystery, and an “Argo”-esque Cold War thriller about an hijacking escape from 1970s Moscow.
Dorothy is repped by Cameron Cubbison at Zero Gravity and Eric Suddleson at Felker, Toczek, Gellman & Suddleson. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two young children.
