Logline: When a naïve but talented photographer is thrust into the seductive "men's magazine" publishing world of the rebellious 1970s, he must balance the temptations and struggles of his new-found success with that of his life as a devoted family man.
SYNOPSIS:
I’m seeking representation for my scripted TV dramedy series, SNAP, which is based on my real-life experiences as a photographer for Penthouse Magazine in the late 1970s and 1980s.
It’s my personal behind-the-scenes view of that sexy, lewd, and exciting world during the wild, fun, loose, and rebellious era of "Free Love".
The main character, ROMAN LANDAUER (30s), is a married man who struggles to live two remarkably diverse lives simultaneously, making his “life” complicated and perplexing. At home in Long Island he’s a devout husband and father. But his career in New York City as a prominent photographer for Exposed Magazine is an alluring, seductive, and ribald profession built on sex, power, money, deception, and affairs. Roman’s goal is to keep his debauchery secret from his wife. After all, his mantra is “What you don’t know … doesn’t hurt you.” He initially succeeds, but as his growing influence at Exposed threatens HARLAND PANOS, the content editor, a power struggle ensues. Harland schemes to push Roman “out of town” or – worse – expose his illicit affairs and destroy Roman’s blissful home life. Even if Roman survives, how long before his mind-blowing sexual exploits are exposed like the beautiful bodies of the women he photographs?
What Roman can’t see through his camera lens is how his own mantra and the risks of his double life will converge in the changing times ahead.
