About Nate

Nate Lombardi is the President of the Groovy Projects, and creator of the Legion Of Eccentrics. In 2010 Nate acquired his substitute teacher's license in New York City while volunteering in Brownsville. He then founded The Groovy Projects in 2012 and has traveled all over the country creating artistic and interactive projects with underserved youth. Nate is on the board of The Erwin and Isabelle Ziegelman Foundation, the Advisory Board of the KFG Foundation, a member of The Summit Series, NEXUS Global, Six Seconds, TTI, Be Social Change and Revive The Dream Cohort. Nate has also consulted with Los Angeles Bases Company Gravity Assist to grow their clientele and organizational structure.

Nate has had roles on TV/Film (Blue Bloods, Sex and the City, Mercy, As The World Turns, One Life to Live, See You in September) On stage (Broadway Bares, The Firebugs, Easter Bonnet.) And has produced and created Five albums and a dozen music videos as “NateKid.” containing duets with Tony winner Alan Cumming, Grammy winners Jane Monheit and Lauren Kinhan and Platinum selling artist Peter Gunz. Nate worked with Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal in the Public Theatre’s #BARS and is senior teacher for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hip Hop Improv Troupe The Free Style Love Supreme Academy. Nate’s music inspired an upcoming movie musical entitled Harlem that was written by Tony/Emmy winner Jennifer Maloney-Prezioso.

The Groovy Projects empowers our youth with artistic, interactive and life-changing multimedia projects and curriculum. The curriculum uses pop culture and covers the history of human rights which adheres to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It covers all of the important and relevant social and emotional issues of adolescence. The Groovy Projects have been covered on 20/20, NPR, MTV act, Pix 11, , and received over 300K views on social media with over 100 retweets from inspired and proud celebrities.
Groovy partnerships with other incredible organizations include: The Child Center of NY, The Children’s Aid Society, The Shop Floor Theater Company, The Orange County DOE, The NYPD 101 Precinct, Revolución Latina, Artists Striving to End Poverty and Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS and Queens Council for the Arts.
