About Tristan

Tristan J Shuler is a masc-presenting, genderqueer & mixed-race storyteller, a recent mentee of INSATIABLE showrunner Lauren Gussis. Tristan J was highlighted in YesBroadway’s 40 Under 40 alongside Oscar-nom Ariana DeBose, Adrienne Warren & Alex Newell after his former fever dream as an Off-Broadway musical theatre actor, director, & playwright (Cruel Intentions, Spamilton) sparked his love for explosive narratives & entertaining audiences. Tristan also created A Night of Play NYC, a board-game-infused playwriting incubator of new works from emerging playwrights in Brooklyn, New York, where he was raised on a military base as the youngest of a seven (sometimes 8!)-person blended multiracial/cultural family before training with The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Roadmap Writers, Gotham Writers, the COOP NYC, Jacob Kreuger Writer Studio, and more. Tristan's now based in Los Angeles and specializes in heightened realities and self-aware satire within sex-forward, queer stories of color that border the lines of cynicism and hopeless romanticism, aiming to normalize the "weird.”
