Hello fellow Stage 32ers. My name is Raoul D. Luna from New York and as it says on my website: "I write words and say them on camera and stages"; which means that I also act. Acting is the career for which I was trained. My 20's were spent gaining entre into SAG/AFTRA and AEA. My 30's, working as a "civilian" full-time to support myself in NYC. I stayed connected to the stage by accepting offers to direct readings of plays written by friends, which led to professional gigs directing one-person-shows. When marriage came around in my late 30's I took to calling myself "retired" as an actor. Cut to: a couple of years ago, I read my journal from high school and was reminded by a fourteen-year-old me that "it is my dream to one day write movies." A bad grade point average kept me out of college and the English Literature degree I desired. Talent got me accepted into the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where I was so average that an acting teacher - who always raved about the "character background" papers I turned in- actually said, "Maybe you should try being a writer instead." So in my early 40's, I felt like I owed it to that kid who dreamt of writing the next "Exorcist" or "Midnight Cowboy". I bought a book on how to write a screenplay and I did it. It is finished! Completed. Tagline, treatment and all. It is perfect for the "New Blood Contest" coming up. Only catch, I still have to convert all the text to a correct format. I hear Celtx is the way to go. Please, wish me luck. Meanwhile, although I'm happy enough working at a law firm, paying into social security, rather than re-energize myself with a "new career path", I developed a 5-year-plan to achieve again the career I once had as a full-time working actor. Only catch, a lot of time has passed and boy, have times changed! To increase my online visibilty I created a website (www.RaoulDLuna.com) and a webseries to showcase myself as an actor and as a writer. The script for "Still with It: episode 3" is ready to be filmed and the cameraman I want is on-board. The preliminary production paperwork with SAG was filed this past week and I am awaiting word on whether I can use the location I want, or if I need to look elsewhere. So, I produce too. Which reminds me: waivers! My homeowners insurance so far is stumped by the request; but does anyone know how or where I can obtain waivers to release myself -and the "location" owners- of any responsibility for a one crew member, two or four actor, one day shoot? So that is me and this is where I am. It is nice to have this opportunity to make the acquaintance. Hello.

Hey Raoul, a few days ago we implemented a new privacy setting to give you the option of accepting private messages only from users within your network. Today, I discovered a bug with the way this option is set for new users. I just wanted to let you know that the bug is now fixed, so all members are now able to receive private messages from any other member (the default setting). If you'd like to receive private messages only from users within your network, you can change this setting here. Also, you can access your privacy settings at any time from the drop-down menu that appears when you hover over your profile photo in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

Here you'll find links to the best acting, filmmaking, and screenwriting resources as well as a comprehensive list of film schools and film festivals.
