About Amy

Amy is inspired by remote spaces and the darker interactions of our human nature. Amy initiated her playwriting career in 2004 through JUTE Theatre’s Enter Stage Write program. In 2005 she developed a short work ‘Back Door’ which was read at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts, and at the JUTE 2005 Playwrights Conference. From 2005-06 Amy worked as a freelance theatre facilitator to develop new work with young people throughout the regions. These pieces were produced in Far North Queensland and toured to the La Luna Youth Arts Festival in 2006. In 2006 Amy was an online participant of the World Interplay festival. In 2008 Amy developed a short work in collaboration with playwrights from Tasmania, Cairns and Darwin. The culmination 'Dancing Back Home' was co-produced by JUTE and Mudlark Theatre (TAS) and had a season in Cairns & Tasmania in 2010. ‘Delirium’ was produced by JUTE Theatre in 2014. Amy has been developing a full length work ‘The Keeper’ throughout 2014 and recently attended a writers development residency at the Varuna Writers House. Amy was also a recipient of Playwriting Australia’s Erin Thomas Fund in 2014 and was shortlisted for the National Script Workshops, in 2014.
