I have been writing from a very young age. In school I was part of the Young Writers’ Club at my local library, and I co-wrote scripts for the yearly pantomime with my Girl Guide Group. I also regularly enter my scripts into competitions, such as BAFTA Rocliffe and BBC Writersroom. In 2013 I wrote a film script that was shortlisted for the IdeasTap Short Film Fund, and in 2017 I was selected from hundreds of entrants to join The Network, an entry level scheme for people who want to pursue a career in TV. During this scheme I was given the opportunity to co-write the script for a short episode of hit BBC medical drama Casualty. More recently I submitted a script to BBC Comedy Writersroom where it got through to the second stage of readings and made the top 13% of all eligible scripts they received.
I also used to freelance as a script reader for Channel 4’s Drama department, which gave me an invaluable insight into what kinds of scripts the Channel looks for, as well as extensive knowledge of the different elements that make an engaging script.
I am currently reading scripts that have been submitted for the New Voice Awards 2022.
