About Nicky

Hi

I’m a new screenwriter from Manchester, England. I always wanted to write but never had the confidence or even knew where to start, until I was recommended to try Celtx by a friend I used to work with. It wasn't that long after I actually was fired from that job and I figured I literally had nothing else to lose, so I began to empty the stories and characters that I'd held in my head for so long, onto the page.

With a final big push during lockdown, I finished my first script, The Game. It took me 3 years all in all but I am massively proud of myself to have been able to actually see my creation through to it's completion whilst fighting the war against procrastination and internal self doubt. It's a very unique feeling to see your own script sat staring back at you, but then comes the question...what do I do with it now?!

As I've lived most of my life very recklessly and pretty irresponsibly, I am fortunate enough to have met and know many people from many walks of life and so I called a few of them to see if anyone would be interested in reading it. Within a few weeks of completing The Game, it'd been read by a script editor at ITV studios (Manchester), a Development Editor at Red Productions and even found its way into the hands of renowned actor, Tamer Hassan, from Layer Cake and The Business etc etc. I was given solid notes to work on from both the editors but to my complete surprise and by absolute luck I managed to bump into Tamer through a mutual friend. He said his team had read it, loved it and his production company could be interested in making something happen. WOW, I couldn't believe it. They had some ideas that they were going to put to me regarding some re-writes and there was going to be a meeting scheduled to push things forward. I was walking on air.....but that's as far as it went. I pretty much got ghosted and never heard anything back from anyone about it. I didn't even get the notes for the rewrite. It was then I realised the real cut throat nature of this business.

However, going through that briefly euphoric experience and feeling that I can actually write stuff that makes people sit up and take notice, has made me even more determined to continue to push my writing and start pitching to literary managers with a view to getting representation. I've worked in sales for the last 15+ years pitching other peoples idea's, products and services. It's about time I started backing myself and pitching my own product.

Unique traits: I released a hip-hop record at 16. I've starred in an national advert for car insurance, click on the link below. Made an appearance in a music video, click on the link below. Oh, and I've been a hand model aswell....link to follow...
