As Colonel Reed makes progress in the operation, working closely with CIA and FBI, his recent divorce and womanizing catch up with him, which puts him in a compromising position. The Chinese use this information to coerce him to work for them. Just as Colonel Reed is about to give the crown jewels to the Chinese, he realizes CIA and FBI are secretly running him as a double agent to introduce a Trojan horse into the Chinese cyber program. In the end, Colonel Reed redeems himself by striking a lethal blow against the Chinese cyber program, but he is forced into retirement and tries to make amends with his wife and children.
