About Jessica

Jessica Kahler is a Brooklyn-based actress, and writer. A graduate of Boston’s Emerson College, she studied acting under Kristen Linklater, the revered Scottish vocal coach, acting teacher, and theatre director. Upon moving to New York City in 2004, Jessica took to the downtown theater scene immediately, acting, directing and writing her way around town. Through her off-off Broadway directing work, Jessica was introduced to members of LAByrinth Theater Company, where she found an artistic home between 2004-2012, collaborating as an actor, and writer. This experience would set the foundations for her career for the stage, and form a natural path for her work to expand to television and film. A forever student, Jessica continued her training on-camera with Bob Krakower between 2004-2007, honing a love for the screen. In 2009, Jessica went on to study the Meisner technique with Maggie Flanigan at The Maggie Flanigan Studio, graduating from their two year track, whilst completing an apprenticeship with New Dramatists, the esteemed home for American Playwrights.

Jessica has been privileged to work Off-Broadway in production or development with: LAByrinth Theater Company. The Public Theater, New York Theater Workshop, Primary Stages, Ensemble Studio Theater, New Georges, New Dramatists, and The Internationalists/Pop-Up Theatrics amongst many others. Notable screen credits include; Wallabout (Best Narrative Film, Manhattan Film Festival 2015 & Bushwick Film Festival 2015); Oh! You Pretty Things, (The Platform’s inaugural scripted series launch).

A passionate global traveler, Jessica can also be found practicing yoga in the jungles of Brazil, exploring the streets of Shanghai or writing on self-appointed sabbatical in the peace of the Adirondacks at her beloved family cabin. Nature and a curiosity for the human spirit is what drives Jessica’s lifelong desire to inhabit and tell our stories.
