One dysfunctional Italian-American family, three generations under one roof surviving each
other in the everchanging 1960’s
SYNOPSIS:
2118 is All In The Family meets The Sopranos mentality in a situation comedy where the
matriarch is the don-atella. Three generations work out differences and form alliances, while
trying to live the American dream (on their terms). 2118 (twenty-one eighteen) is a 3-level house
in Brooklyn, NY and the comedic backdrop of one extended, Italian-American Catholic family
with ten very different personalities.
The house has a personality all its own; and it’s never referred to as home. Rose, the matriarch
and female Archie Bunker, owns the house – domineering and strong willed, she has to be the
boss. She isn’t the Mafia, but she has a Mafia mentality – family is everything. Rose knows the
world is changing; and the only way to keep her family together is to control it! And no one dare
break the family bond. To control the family – she has to tell them how things should be done.
But to the world, the family is perfect.
Married at 16, now 53, she minds everyone’s business. In 2118, there are no secrets, no privacy,
no nothing! Everyone sees her control as meddling, but she sees it as her right. That’s important
to her vitality – it’s the way to live long enough to see everyone grow up. Even though that could
possibly bury them all. She even plans to keep her family together in the next life. As a
guarantee, she bought ten burial plots to ensure that even death won’t separate her family.
Welcome to 2118 where your truth won’t help you, but Rose’s truth just might…
