A single mother is sent to prison for defending herself against an abusive boyfriend and learns to play poker like a pro so that she can enter the tournaments that will earn her enough money to regain custody of her two small children.
SYNOPSIS:
As a single mother, Sara Martin just wants a normal life for her two small children. But when she is forced to defend her own life against an abusive boyfriend, she is railroaded into a prison sentence and her children are placed in foster care. During her incarceration, she makes friends with a fellow inmate who has outside connections to assist Sara in protecting her children from the abusive ex. The inmate also helps Sara learn the art of playing poker professionally. When Sara is released, she faces further difficulties as an ex-felon, to make a living and get her children back. With the help of a former poker pro as her mentor, she goes on the road to perfect her game so that she can enter the high stakes tournaments that will give her the financial resources to regain custody and make a home for her children. But as she gains success and falls in love with her mentor, Sara’s abusive ex continues to carry out his violent revenge and threatens to keep her from reaching the final table of the World Series of Poker.
