After a young girl goes missing in the woods, the nearby village bans anyone from going in, but it doesn't stop one brave boy from adventuring out to see what the big deal is.
SYNOPSIS:
A young girl sneaks out at night to play in the woods. After a long night of playing, the girl soon realizes that she is lost and sadly dies in the woods, cold and alone. The village, heartbroken and fearful of the woods, bans anyone from entering it. They build a border around their village to better separate themselves from the woods.
Many years later, a young boy, not scared of the legends of the woods, goes out at night to see what the big deal is. Shortly after entering the woods, the boy loses his courage as he walks around the dark woods and now he is lost.
Luckily, he runs into a group of fireflies that leads him to a ghost, and not just any ghost, the ghost of the girl that die so many years ago. At first, he's scared, but he quickly realizes that the ghost is friendly and she leads the boy to a brighter, more magical part of the woods with glowing mushrooms.
The two play the night away, but soon the night is over and the boy is tired. It's time to leave, but the ghost doesn't want the boy to leave. After so many years, she finally has a friend, he can't leave now! But yet, she looks into the boy's eyes and is reminded of herself. How she too once wish to leave the woods and go home. So, with a heavy heart, the ghost leads the boy out of the woods.
The boy waves to the ghost to join him in the village, but the ghost reveals why she has never left. She can't. Her soul is forever trapped in the woods. The boy doesn't let this stop him, he makes a promise that can never be broken to the ghost that he would come back, a pinky promise. With the promise made that he would return, the boy leaves.
And return he shall! The boy comes back to visit his new ghost friend, then he brings more people, and more people until the whole village comes to meet the ghost, and the ghost from that day forward was never alone again.
