About Juan

Film and TV producer and director from the U. Nacional de Colombia. He studied audiovisual communication at the U. Jaume I (Spain). In 2019 he receives the Belisario Betancur Scholarship by the British Council at the Anglia Ruskin University School of Art in Cambridge, UK and produces "A Road Trip", an experimental film in 16mm. The art magazine Artefacto publishes a series of his photographs in version 20 and an interview with Javier Cámara in version 21. The Spanish artists' book Flamantes No. 18 published two of his photographic works in 35 mm.

He has been director and writer of the short films Lo Dulce de la Vida (Official Selection of FACIUNI BECAS, 2018), Canciones Sin Palabras (winner for best audience vote in SmartFilms, 2017) and Un Kilómetro Para Toda La Vida (best short film in the Kilometrajes competition organized by the Cartagena International Film Festival and Porsche, 2016).

He has worked in the production of television series and documentaries for Fox Colombia, Canal Capital, Señal Colombia and in the production of the film Memoria by Apichatpong Weerasethakul. He was production director of the documentary El León by Diana Bustamante.
His taste for cinematography has led him to work as production coordinator in film festivals such as Cortodeón (Spain), Cortopatía (Spain) and Premios Fugaz (Spain). He was head of accreditations at the 18th version of the Bogoshorts film festival. The Bogotá International Films Festival selects him as jury member for the youth award in the 6th edition. In the year 2021 the Bogota Audiovisual Market chooses him as a young talent in the Bammer category. In the same year he won an artistic grant from the Mayor's Office of Bogota to develop his film work: Los Cuerpos. He is currently partner and executive producer of La Casa Del Árbol Films, a film production company with which he produced his first fiction series "Devuélveme La Noche" and his first animated series "Airuna"; both projects won the MINTIC 2021 Abre Cámara stimulus and are in the process of distribution.
