Jonty Acton

48 year old Jonty Acton is a graduate of the London Film School. He has written, produced and directed 7 short films and his first feature as writer/director, The 13th Sign, premiered at Leicester Squares Prince Charles Cinema. It has been released and distributed in the US, Canada and Europe. Jonty has developed several feature screenplays and based on these been selected for the Channel 4 writers workshop (1998), the Sithengi Writers Forum (2004) and the Sithengi Talent Campus (2005). His NGO short film Know Your Place which he wrote, produced and directed for Youth Unlimited was shortlisted for the M-Net TAG Awards and he wrote, produced and directed the Wildlife/Documentary TV series Frontier Vets (2016) which continues to be sold internationally and premiered on SABC 3 in 2016. His feature script Break In was selected for development funding by the National Film and Video Foundation in 2018 and the Proof of Concept was directed by Jonty in 2019. His latest screenplay The Reconciliation has been optioned and received development funding from the NFVF. Jonty has run film-making workshops in Germany and South Africa. He works as a script editor for the National Film and Video Foundation, South Africa, and has developed a Feature Film Screenwriting Workshop for the SAE College in Woodstock, Cape Town, during his time as Screenwriting and Directing Lecturer. He recently ran the 2021 PESP Online Feature Screenwriting Workshop for 10 aspirant writers. He is currently Script Editing several feature screenplays and short films in development with and writing a romantic comedy for an independent production company.
