About Manu
I write, often edit, produce or coproduce and of course direct my films.
Fiction
I made a satire in “Hinglish” (12 minutes), Hollywood ki pukar (the call of Hollywood), which was premiered in the Director’s fortnight in Cannes 2002.
My first feature film (92 minutes), another satire in Hinglish, Chai pani etc. (Love, bribes, etc.) was released in theatres in India after a seven month battle with the Indian censor board. It was selected in a number of international film festivals and won the Special Jury Award at the International film festival in Brussels in 2007.
Documentaries on architecture and urbanism
I have made fifteen documentaries on architecture and urban issues, seven of which were selected in international film festivals and three, Le Corbusier in India, Mandu and Lutyens’ Delhi have received awards.
Films for exhibitions and conferences
I have made films for exhibitions held in the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, in Centre Pompidou and the Institut français de l’architecture, Paris.
I also give conferences in universities, architectural schools and cultural centers.
Production companies
I have set up two production companies: Duniya vision India pvt ltd, in India and Karma productions sarl, in France to help me produce my films.
