SYNOPSIS:

Zephaniah Jones closes the door of his mother’s car and faced the massive building. Looking at the towering stone edifice, his stomach turned with understanding that each further step brought him closer to incarceration. He looks to his mom and feels unable to move. She must be what he needs now. Zep’s father would’ve known what to do, but if he were here, Zep would most likely not be. He was always there for Zep, until he wasn’t. Zep was angry just thinking about it. Why did he have to do this? He felt the ground beneath him tilt, as if he were suddenly on a hill or the world was turning so fast he could feel it pitch him over. Zep felt his mother’s hand close around his. She was pitiful and he wanted to shake her. This was her doing, she was driving this, she wouldn’t believe him, just let it go. Just because she found him, she thought she knew what to do. Ok, so he shouldn’t have made such a mess, the blood was hard to clean he could give her that. When had she ever known what to do, though? Now, she thinks she knows what’s best? All the times he wanted answers, she didn’t know what to say and now she knows what is best and won’t relent even after he says he won’t do it again? All she has is a pitiful faith, a leap in the dark. The bandage around Zep’s wrist poked out from his shirt. What if no one is there to catch you? What if everyone you rely on is just waiting on a last breath and it comes before you thought it would? What if everything people tell you is bullshit? How do they know anything? He wanted to scream, but he looked at his mother and then at the front door of the insane asylum. Palagian Arms Sanatorium, what the hell waited for him in there?
