About Rob

Rob Raffety is the founder and principal of Tragedy Plus Time, LLC, an award-winning production company based in Arlington, Virginia. He’s been writing and producing indie media content for over a decade, and is currently a part-time graduate film student at George Mason University, where he also works as an economic research manager and adjunct professor of law and public policy. Rob’s short film adaptations, Retirement (2013) and Game Night (2014), earned critical praise and were selected as back-to-back Grand Prize Winners of the annual Speakeasy DC Film Challenge. Rob’s comedy web series Cap South was heralded by critics and fans alike, winning Best Web Series in the Irvine International Film Festival and Best Comedy Writing in the Indies Series Awards. Most recently, recognized Cap South as one of its Five Favorite Indie Series of 2014. One of Rob’s earliest productions, a short documentary about a stand-up comedy contest for federal employees, Funniest Fed (2007), won Best Local Film in DC Shorts. Originally from Buckhannon, West Virginia, Rob currently resides outside Washington, DC where he has worked in law, public policy, and higher education for over fourteen years.
