William Mark Clarke

If you are a movie go’er like myself you may wonder when you leave a movie. You have several different thoughts going through your mind. As you leave the theater you might say, “I can make a better movie than that.”” “What did I just see?” As a screenwriter I do that and more. I have completed several “spec scripts”. Three if then as of 2015 have been optioned and are seeking financing.
I was born into the military (United States Air Force) because of my dad, but not in the atmosphere of “The Great Santini” we traveled in the era of the early 1960’s living in the deep south on a base called Keesler AFB located next to Biloxi, Mississippi. During our stays there President Kennedy’s happened as well as the Civil Rights murders of James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner, then a few years later Rev. Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy. Needless to say Things happened while the Clarke family was stationed at Keesler.

We traveled to the Republic of the Philippines and were stationed at Clark Air Force Base and Altus Air Force Base near Altus, Oklahoma. My dad’s last duty stations in the Washington D. C area where we lived in Chantilly, Virgina for about 13 years. This was the longest at that time for the Clarke family to stay in one spot.

In 1985 we moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, thanks to my dad, who was working for a government civilian contractor better known as the “Beltway Bandit” in the D.C area.

In 1988 I was hired as a Nevada State Corrections officer trainee, staying on for 15 years and 10 months. I spent my time working in two Nevada prisons: Southern Desert Correctional Center (SDCC) and High Desert State Prison (HDSP), both located northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada. My life expectancy as a corrections officers was relatively short, in reference to the population. I was going to do 22 years, but fate intervened.
