David McCormick

A certified stage combat instructor with Fight Directors Canada, David McCormick has 15 years of training and experience in theatrical swordplay and stage movement. His approach is equal parts emotional authenticity and audience/camera effectiveness, leading to the highest quality illusion of violence with personal combat weapons: unarmed, swords of all ages, and other weapon types from all cultures. He is the Head of Stage Combat at Academie Duello in downtown Vancouver, where he is also the Head of the Bartitsu program, the fighting style of Sherlock Holmes. David was the fight consultant for Bard on the Beach’s 2013 season, and was awarded a Canada Council Grant for that work.
