About JB

John J Bruno (JB) brings almost thirty years of working in the entertainment industry: in theater as a producer, director, playwright, designer and acting teacher; in independent films as producer, line producer, production manager, screenwriter and assistant director.

Among his featured credits as line producer is Man of the Century, featuring Frank Gorshin, Anne Jackson and Tony-winner Anthony Rapp. Produced on a modest budget, Man of the Century won the Audience Award at Slamdance, and was then released by Fine Line. He was more recently line producer on the Tamil-US production of Achamundu, Achamundu. Directed by Arun Vaidyanathan, Achamundu,Achamundu featuring Tamil film stars Prasanna, Sneha and Emmy Award-winning American film actor John Shea earned Best Feature Film Award at the Chennai International Film Festival and, here at home, won the Best Homegrown Feature Film Award at the Garden State Film Festival.

In the summer of 2000, he produced and co-wrote Town Diary, a 35mm feature. The film features stand-out performances by Terry Quinn (“Lost”) and Angelica Torn (“Sixth Sense”). He shares an LA Film Critics screenwriting award for that effort.

His current project is a play that he wrote, A Demon on My Life, which he directed in a socially-distanced performance on Zoom. It's featured on YouTube with a Broadway-experienced cast. He is looking to record a version for a streaming service.

He served as story producer and story editor for reality website Bizcatr.tv, and and he was the original production manager on the Emmy-nominated HBO series Taxicab Confessions in New York

His stage directing credits include working as Artistic Director of TheatrEast in Bethlahem, Pa. and Catharsis Theater Co. on NY’s Theatre Row. He has directed new works, the plays of Sam Shepard, Children of a Lesser God and opera workshops, and is director of a stage reading of playwright Sean Pomposello at Manhattan Theatre Club.

His other credits include Director of Operations for Gun for Hire, the production services division of Shooting Gallery, . He also taught EP Budgeting and Scheduling and Line Producing at New York Film Academy in New York City.
