About MarieAnna

I stepped on the stage at the age of five reciting classical poetry which soon led to acting in theater plays and writing poetry. In my teenage years I got the urge to direct children plays as children have always fascinated me. It was an unforgettable experience. Then my career was interrupted by unfortunate political situation in the country of my birth, Czechoslovakia, and by my motherhood.

I returned to the stage in Astoria, New York. During my few years in Sydney I was casted in TV series. There I began to study the art of film making and completed my education in Los Angeles. It was time to step behind camera. Studying is easy and affordable in comparison to take the seat behind camera and produce a feature film. It is still unclear to me whether the half million I invested in my first feature was worth it. Such a low budget film hardly ever makes a filmmaker noticeable. But there is a great reward behind the financial struggle and determination to make the film as finest as possible. It is the best education and experience one can ever get. The film was screened in AFM, Cannes, Disney Studio and Egyptian Theater in Hollywood before it went into commercial distribution world wide.

I wrote three screenplays since. The last one, a political romantic drama from our history is prepared to enter into production.
