Joseph Carraro has returned to his roots to live in New York City; a former Senator from New Mexico (1985-2009); Registered Independent, with a BA in English and Political Science, an MBA and a PhD; a former stockbroker/ financial analyst; owned Italian restaurants; an author, lecturer, playwright and International Business consultant; graduate school professor of Human Behavior and Professional Ethics; championed the causes of the developmentally disabled/autism; Chairman of a Multi-Billion dollar Investment Oversight Committee; founded Project Share, a private homeless feeding program; Executive Committee Member of the prestigious National Energy Council and served on National Legislative Committees of Finance, International Affairs, Education and Chairman of the Trade and Transportation Committee of the Council of State Governments and appointed by President Clinton to the Commission for Disabled Americans; Named National Outstanding Legislator of the Year; Bronzed dedication for funding building the National Institute of Health Cancer Center at the University of New Mexico; “Katrina” Resolution and Commendation from the Louisiana Legislature.
During the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, he was responsible for getting the gasoline needed to run the generators in New Orleans, and was then tasked with mopping floors in the emergency trauma center, taking those morbidly obese to the bathroom, and helping organize Angel flights for who lost their home to be reunited with family members throughout the country eventually being placed in charge of the psychiatric triage. He was then singled out by the Louisiana Legislature in the passing of a resolution in his honor for his response and contribution to those in desperate need. He knows what it takes to get the job done, whether dealing with the head of a country or cleaning up someone else’s mess. He became an Executive Committee Member of the prestigious National Energy Council attending OPEC meetings and served on National Legislative Committees of Finance, International Affairs, Education and Chairman of the Trade and Transportation Committee of the Council of State Governments and appointed by President Clinton to the Commission for Disabled Americans. Named National Outstanding Legislator of the Year, Nominated to be Ambassador to Venezuela just prior to diplomatic relationship dissolved
