About Ellen

Ellen Thompson is a comedy writer who comes from humble beginnings as an overly confident teenager in Central Pennsylvania winning awards for acting in community theater and going on to earn a BFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. She remained steadfastly loyal to her acting craft for 20 years, by which time she was quite tired, so she decided to focus on writing relatable stories about smart women trying to find their place in the world. Ellen was tired because she contracted Lyme disease, which she battled from 2014-2022. Lyme Disease: The Musical, which she wrote about the experience, was a finalist in the ScreenCraft Stage Play Writing Competition, and the show’s premiere production in Los Angeles was nominated for seven awards. Ellen also won Acclaim TV’s Scriptwriting Contest for her sitcom pilot, was a finalist in the Moondance International Film Festival Screenplay Competition, and was in the top 15% in the Nicholl Fellowship.
