I am a screenwriter and director from Hamilton, Ontario. I am currently working on my first short film.
I recently made the decision to open my own production company, Cuvier Studios and fill roles with talented actors to breathe life into the industry and fill the void we all know exists within Hollywood. My intention is to write vibrant worlds, diverse characters and stories without limitations. This is the foundation of my work. I want the world to not only see my perspective but highlight others as well. I am curious of what it would be like to create a production company built on the solidity of diversity and inclusivity. To me diversity is anyone who goes against the norm, those separated from the majority, one who is not what others think they should be and ostracized because of such differences.
With inspiration from blog posts like Dear J.K Rowling: We’re Still Here, hashtags such as: #notyourmascot, where natives share the racism and misrepresentation of their people. How society perceives them as drunks and pictures casinos and shacks. Hastags likes #Oscarssowhite, #whitewashedout, #hirethesewomen #mebeforeableism which was used to discuss the repesentation of disability after the movie Me Before You. #starringjohncho which is a movement of what it would be like if Hollywood cast an Asian American man as their leading man. Of course we had the nice following of #starringconstancewu. Many stories are not being told and the ones being told are inaccurate and damaging.
I am here to tell your stories. Create the roles you’ve always dreamed of playing and make films you hoped to be able to see.
