Learning lines

Hi, I wanted to get to know if there are any other actors or actresses who use other ways of learning lines. I have recently come across a ton of apps, approaches and methods, which might be of use to you or maybe someone, whom you may know may benefit from this information, I have listed the apps, approaches and methods below: Linelearner: This app is probably a godsend to every actor or actress EVER! Because to go through lines with someone else, is a two-way street. Either, you get a family member, friend, significant other or a willing participant trying to help you or you get no one at all. With this app, you can learn lines by yourself and know your cues with your own voice talking back at you, because it has a recording feature which can help you learn your lines. Inkflow Plus: For myself, personally this has been a huge help. In looking at the app, you would think..."How would this help me?" This app is great for actors or actresses who could be dyslexic or may need some sort of visual cue that can help them learn lines, or may need help with sections they get stuck on. What you do, is you write down the lines you mess up on in different colours, and help to stimulate memorisation in a colourful and creative way. Promptoo3: This app is amazing, this is originally made for dyslexic actors who have trouble with reading and understanding plays, it reads back the lines of each character for you, it has a text to speech function, so you can hear it in an auditory way. They only have Shakespearean and classic plays at the moment, but they are looking for new plays for their catalogue, again it's a big recommendation from myself as this is a help for everyone within the acting communities. Prizmo: I use this app ALOT!! This app works by reading a book to you in a text to speech fashion. Again, this is an app for people who might be dyslexic or have some sort of learning or visual gift that makes reading or understanding text a little challenging. This app works by taking a page of a book you are reading and converting it into an OCR Document, which is the feature that helps it to be read back to you. I have tried it with plays, but it's a little difficult to use, and if you don't have the right lighting, the writing on the page may look like this: uklfhiwoe;arji;oqRJ Other than that, it is a huge help and as I said. I do use this app all the time to read plays and books. it can also convert and send it to your computer, so that you can use the photos that you have converted into other apps or programmes. If there are any other apps, approaches or methods that you use. You can leave a comment below and it will be greatly appreciated.

I think those all must be iPhone apps, no? Most iphone users I know are using (and rave about) Rehearsal the App http://www.rehearsaltheapp.com/ Unfortunately, not available for we Android users. Ironically i just did a big search for best apps for Android and just this week am using Script Rehearser. You can import some scripts right into it, tell it which character is yours, then presto! it reads the other lines. Pretty sweet. I can even change the speed of their speech. Add .... to create more space between lines if needed. And change the pitch of their speech. (still sounds pretty robotic, but so do the readers at the audition, so, perfect ;) Because most of my audition sides come in a PDF from Breakdown Services thats really a scanned image the app can't automatically read it, so I retype the lines in a simple text doc ( which also helps me begin to memorize). I then send the file to myself and save it on my phone. then just import it into Script Rehearser. Boom. Done. Then I have a great 24/7 on demand scene partner! Works like a charm. That's what I'm up to. Always open to Android app suggestions myself!

Hey Chris! I think the only app that I have listed is the Prizmo app that tends to swing both ways from IOS to Andriod. I have found a couple of script apps for android phones. http://fwdlabs.com/resources/apps/device/android/tag/actor/ The script rehearser app, sounds like a lot like linelearner. Yeah, those robot voices can be annoying. As much as it is annoying, you don't need a world class reader to read back to you, even though it is useful to hear expressions and inflections.
