Animation filmmaking fans / The Illusion of Life

Far too basic for you animation geeks, but a great primer for non-techies and non-artists! https://vimeo.com/93206523 http://www.amazon.com/The-Illusion-Life-Disney-Animation/dp/0786860707

I can fairly say THE ILLUSION OF LIFE taught me everything about animation. I interviewed at Disney, and took an art test, and was hired without knowing the first thing about how animated films were made. That weekend I was wandering through a used book store and came across a 1st edition of THE ILLUSION OF LIFE, I devoured it in a weekend (it's a 3 inch thick book that is 16 inches square and weighs about 10 pounds. It enabled me to walk into any department and not only know what I was talking about but also being able to actually do the work which quickly led to me being promoted through the ranks and gave me a cozy home for nearly 11 years as part of the management team. Years later Frank and Ollie came to a party and signed it for me, I've since given it to my son who wanted to learn how to be an animator.

How awesome! I was assigned to supervise Curious George for Universal when the 2 execs who had been assigned the movie both left Uni for Paramount. The animation producer told me to buy the book, and it's still on my shelf 10 years later.

This is great, taught me so much more and so simple!
