Anything Goes : Cleaning up the rogue elements in the UK Film industry by Jeremy Oliver

Cleaning up the rogue elements in the UK Film industry

I hope no-one sees this as spam but I believe that this is a just cause and affects us all. This subject is relevant to the International Film Industry as well as the UK because "Foreign" film companies/Actors/crew coming to the UK could be affected by these rogue elements that are a stain on the red carpet of the Film Industry, just as I am sure your own local film industries have their darker side too. The consequences of the few that seek to defraud Actors/SA's/Crew and dependent companies are felt financially by all in involved in the film Industry Internationally from the top to the bottom whether it be sub standard content or creating an un-trusting atmosphere amongst film & TV investors. Please show your support and sign the petition. Thank You. Please feel free to comment or make suggestions, we need 100k signatures for this to be heard in parliament, this will be a struggle but does affect EVERYONE in the industry from runners, sound, catering , actors all the way to film investors. The "Miscreants" that we are targeting have been plying their questionable business for ages an it is about time the Government stepped in to discourage this kind of unlawful trade. It is quite often that those least able to afford to lose money when a project goes wrong are being targeted. This can Include "modelling Agencies", "Photographers", "Production Companies" or "Talent Agents". It is very likely that we all know at least one person who has fallen prey to these fraudsters and we should be doing more to protect them and any other new-comers to the industry. Please show your support and sign this ePetition and help give the UK Film industry the protection it is crying out for. You don't have laws against fraud in the UK already? We do in the US and these people still ply their illegal trade. We need better enforcement, not more laws. Hard to believe that in the UK you don't even have the laws on the books.

D, Oh we have laws but criminals do break them. We are asking for legislation to stop/make it difficult for these scammers to operate in the first place. Laws are already in place but what do you do if someone decides to break em? It does not help artists/crew if a company/agent does not pay them then pleads bankruptcy, shuts down their operation and then re-opens under a new name weeks later.....

Keneth Okoduwa

This is serious stuff so ask for money up front or come to some kind of stipulation.

Here in the States what we do if someone breaks laws we have them arrested and prosecuted. What do you in the UK do if if someone decides to break the law? Here in the States these scammers do the same thing. They scam people out of their money and then they shut down and open up under a different name and scam people again. There is no legislation or law that can stop people from committing crimes. There are only legislation and laws that law enforcement can use after a crime is committed. What does your legislation do that is not being done now?
