Composing : Music Libraries by Timothy Andrew Edwards

Music Libraries

Do any of you write for (or have written for) Production Music Libraries? Small libraries? Large, established libraries? If so, what has your experience been?

Hey Timothy. I've been writing for production libraries for the last five years or so. As in all business there are the good, the bad and the ugly. Most important thing I think is to research the production library before commuting your material especially if it is exclusive representation. Depending how your material is used you could get paid a few bucks or several thousand bucks for the same piece. Lots of demand from cable TV though often for no upfront money with back end money being paid out by your PRO. Anyway hope this makes sense all the best.
