Filmmaking / Directing : First Feature Film by Ahi Black

First Feature Film

Hello everyone!

I am looking for some guidance, I write and direct short films with the goal of making a name for myself then eventually producing my first feature and growing from there. As a 25 year old man I am focused on the best game plan to make that a reality. We all understand it takes a lot of skill, money and perseverance to make a successful feature. My question is, with having many high concepts and stories to choose from what is the smartest choice or recommended route when it comes to a young directors first feature debut? Is it worth self/ crowdfunding? Or is finding relative producers, investors, or even studios worth the time to pitch to? I have the fire and perseverance its my game plan that needs tuning.

Thank you!

Hey Ahi Black! Great to have you in the community! I agree with Kay - there are some fantastic industry professionals who would be great for you to spend an hour speaking with. Personally, given that you are a Director, I think you should consider a Career Development Call with Doug Atchison who has made his living as a director. Happy to discuss further at any point! j.mirch@stage32.com
