High School Student Film - Need Feedback

Hi everyone, I'm needing some feedback on this short xfv test film I Directed, Shot, Edited and did vfx for. I would like to know what I could improve on.. thanks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHcomGvhiUY

Matt Burns

I watched the first few minutes. Very impressive fx. Like the whole Blade Runner feel. A lot better than what I was doing in high school haha. What kinds of programs do you use for the visual fx?

Aze Director

Thnx! I used after effects

This looks really good but I would have liked to see more character development in the first three minutes. Towards the end, we understand that our protagonist feels empathy for his victim (or perhaps he just hates being bossed around), but before that we have very little sense of who he is or why he acts as he does. And because of that we're not sure why he shoots his employer at the end. Other than that, it's very good. Congrats on finishing this piece. It's quite beautiful and well edited. Very impressive.

Thanks for the advice :) It was a vfx test film but for a future project like this I'll be sure to expand on his character.

Awesome! That's really exciting!

Very cool concept and the video was excellent. On a critical note, at the beginning the VO was a little unclear (I had to listen to it twice). But very well done.

Nicely done Aze. I agree you might want to tweet some of the audio but overall very impressive. Could we upload this to our site ? Best Milt www.firstritesfilms.com

Thanks Milt, sure you can post it on your site!

Demiurgic Endeavors

Don't jab your arm forward to simulate handgun muzzle flip or recoil, 95% of people watching won't care. Either flick your wrist or jerk your forearm upward. Nice effort overall.
