Proper etiquette for web series distribution?

Thinking ahead here...When a project is done, what is the proper etiquette when seeking a 12 episode, 5 minute web series distribution? Although slim, I would hate to blow chances of Hulu or another to buy into the series to redevelop it for instance. After a web series is done, do you first show at web festivals in the hope of finding a distributor? Do you convince distributors by enticing them by number of views the show has on youtube? If it is put on youtube first, do you lose distributors because they want to be the first to premiere your work? I'm a little confused at the new media etiquette and welcome opinions.

A great person you should network with is Michael Wormser. He's pretty versed in web series etiquette. Also, he taught a really great webinar about growing your YouTube audience: https://www.stage32.com/webinars/How-To-Grow-Your-Youtube-Audience-And-R...

I actually took that webinar. He made some good points. Thanks for the suggestion.

As a start, Google "High Maintenance Vimeo" and "Lizzie Bennet Diaries."

There's a distribution site I recently heard about, but haven't tried yet myself, that you're supposed to go to after a festival run but maybe no distribution bites. It's called Quiver and it helps link you to professional platforms -- such as Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. Let me know if you decide to use it and how it works for you! I just heard about it through the grape vine! :)

Thanks for the tip, Regina. I'll look those up. Michelle, I'll check out Quiver, and if we decide to use it, I'll let you know. :-)

Michelle, Filmmakerforum has given Quiver horrible reviews. One guy lost $3000 to them.

Julie, looks like Wormser was last active here 6 months ago.

Bryce -- oh no! Thanks for finding that out! I'll definitely look more into it for future reference. Sorry that that piece of info wasn't too much of a help. :/

Any knowledge gained- good or bad- is useful for the future. :)
