StartEngine has a VERY poor BBB rating. It seems to be a structure which simply ensures that SEC documents are done and is there to put together investors with startups, BUT from their FAQ it really does look like you are on your own for finding investors ("tell your friends, family, customers, and users that you’re raising capital and encourage them to invest". https://www.bbb.org/us/ca/west-hollywood/profile/crowdfunding/startengin...
Slated.com, in my opinion (others may disagree) is a site that charges a LOT of money for "services" which assist filmmakers in preparing their projects for sale. There is simply no guarantee that anyone will ever look at your project, and the fluff on their site is pitched to imply that by being there and getting engaged with them, and especially by paying for their various services, you will get funded. Well... no. But not all agree. So here' is a review of the site: https://www.darentsmith.com/a-few-thoughts-on-slated-com/
