Introduce Yourself : Hello again! by Richard Morell

Richard Morell

Hello again!

Hey, everyone--I'm an on-again/off-again member of this platform since 2015, when I first heard about Stage32 from classmates in screenwritingu.com classes. I'm a screenwriter and playwright, and I have written 10 features and 1 TV pilot so far. I've been writing plays since I was an undergrad back in the 80s.

Currently, I'm about to start my final semester at the David Lynch MFA Program in Screenwriting. Thus far, I have completed drafts of a gay romance, a supernatural thriller, and a TV pilot/bible for a single-cam 1/2 -hour comedy. Next semester is the final semester and I get to rewrite a project and take a course on the business side of screenwriting.

I'm also keeping my acting skills alive with an Improv class here in Fairfield. The last part I played was of a KGB officer in 1955 Leningrad who was tasked with finding those who record disallowed music--expatriate Russians, banned composers like Shostakovich, and of course, western Rock 'n' Roll. (An original play, it was called "Bone Records" and the show was a world premiere in Laramie, Wyoming.)

In between terms I am working on a fantasy/romance script set in Laramie, about an urban gay guy who is on a quest to find what happened in two weeks missing from his memory, and the quest leads him to Laramie where he finds his spellcaster--a single-dad mechanic-sorcerer with bedroom eyes. This one is called SMALL TOWN MAGICK.

Congratulations on writing ten features and a TV pilot, Richard Morell! Do you like to write scripts or plays more? I've thought about writing a play, but I would need to learn the format.

Good to hear from you again. Hope you're doing well.
