Introduce Yourself : Project 36 by Jeff Baumann

Jeff Baumann

Project 36

Greetings to all and happy holidays! Maybe you can help me. Pondering what I'd like to accomplish as a filmmaker after I graduated, I came up with this blueprint for the ultimate career. Polti's 36 dramatic situations, each shot as a feature, each shot in a different country, and each in a different language. Shot in cinema verite style, features would appear like colorful National Geographic documentaries, but they'd have driving plots. I'd essentially be the executive producer, but I'm just starting out, so it'll be tough catalyzing such a career. Any thoughts on where to start pragmatically eating this elephant?

Richard "RB" Botto

That is a pretty ambitious starting point, Jeff. Certainly in the realm of "Dream big".

Well it's actually the destination point I plugged into my internal GPS. I heard that a genius walks through the door before it has been opened. I asked myself "What would Shakespeare do if he lived in modern times?" Woody Allen, Ingmar Bergman, Akira Kurosawa etc. auteured 30+ films a piece. What if they had a destination in mind for their respective cannons and focused telling one of each story known to man? Ambitious? The only way to be. Dreaming? Time will tell. The real starting point is networking in global forums like Studio 32 with like-minded globally conscious creative folks and I thank you for providing me with the opportunity to do so here.

Love that response, Jeff. Just love it. Dig your energy, my friend. And thanks for the good words.

Richard "RB" Botto

John, you're another one who's not afraid to get after it, that's for sure.

Take a map of the world and try to find a partner ( a screenwriter or a filmmaker) in a particular country, with a particular culture, never heard of by the US audience, so they're bound to be interested and make the first mile. Your project will help us understand that it is time to understand the other and vice versa. Good luck

Jeff, I had the same dream many years ago, making different films in different countries but with local teams and stories and this in as many countries as I could. The only difference was that it was not based on Polti's 36 dramatic situations and as part of the dream, I had to marry a woman from each country I make a film in. Of course, I was in my thirties! Get inspired lol

Hi jeff, Ernest Cox here, I would start off with the "tail" or at the end of the tale. www.micdropflix.com writing for the imaginative is an exquisite Machiavellian exercise don't you agree?

Ashleigh Morrison

Love the vision, good luck!

Roe DePinto Naber

You are quite the visionary, just expound on it and keep your passion in focus. Believe always in your dreams and they will come to fruition. Network, network, network and you will be discovered as well as discover your passion can be shared.

Richard "RB" Botto

Nice post, Roe.

Thanks Richard!
