'The Ruins of Civilization'- Theater Review

Richard Buzzell

It might be an interesting challenge to write a play set in the future where something goes right.

Steven Harris Anzelowitz

How about an Edison type character(I envision this as a film because I am a screenwriter, But could work as a play in 3 Acts) who is trying to build the world's largest solar electric generating station and his conflict and antagonists are all the oil and gas companies trying to stop him. The good is that he prevails and he turns the switch and a major cities lights come back on . Of course it would have to be a 24/7 energy plant with Geothermal and wind also. But the good for the future where everything goes right is humanity has a better world a cleaner better place to live , work, and play. Skies start to clear from pollution even the smallest villages in Africa will now have electricity thanks to our Hero protagonist. For reference on how this worked in a Film before I suggest you check out EDISON THE MAN(1931) Starring Spencer Tracy. (It is on You Tube) Some working titles might be 'Solarman' or 'The Man who followed the Sun'

Steven - I'm not sure the public would believe the idea of the oil and gas companies not winning out. It just doesn't seem realistic in today's political environment.

Steven Harris Anzelowitz

Richard- Believe it or not this is an important story to get out. The future is in Solar and Wind. It is now cheaper to generate electrical power that way. Of course it is a rough road ahead. And this will take bold moves by some very brave people. And this planet has a 100 year old addiction to Oil and Gas that a 12 step program is not going to solve. But before you respond to me again. Watch 'Catching The Sun' a documentary that paints the true picture. Thank you. And what about Tomorrows political environment? The future is coming. Hold on to your hats because it is going to be a ride you'll never forget. And you were the one that first proposed a play where something goes right in the future. Well, I can't think of anything more right than clean renewable electrical energy world wide. Think of all the sub poverty people in the third world they don't have millions of dollars to build power plants and buy imported oil or LNG or run transmission lines.. But they can scrape together a few hundred dollars to put PV solar panels on their homes and raise their standard of living, Have internet access, run an air conditioner. actually join the 21st century. Now will you tell me what is more right than that. There are 6 Billion people on this planet and I will close with this. China already started. Da-DA!!

Compare now to twenty years ago. Twenty years from now will be exponentially different.
